Hey Cheneeta! Tell us a bit about you?
I am a graphic designer and marketing assistant originally from the UK and currently residing in Perth, WA. Before I began the Certificate IV with The Graphic Design School I worked in fashion retail across a number of roles including management and visual merchandising.
DRIP is a jewellery brand with a bold personality. The brand specialises in premium and custom jewellery made to order. The concept behind the project focuses on the areas of the body jewellery sits, elongates and highlights.
WWF Ocean Protector Social Media Graphics
A range of promotional graphics to be used across social media platforms, namely facebook and Instagram.
My personal identity pokes fun at the awkwardness that can often come with networking. The need to aquire new clients and promote services without being perceived as too “pushy.’ The high contrast colour palette paired with the playful, sans-serif typeface represents my fun yet often introverted personality perfectly.
Pequeño Bar (Little Bar)
The Pequeño Bar, or the “Little Bar”, is a pop up event surrounded in mystery with entrance permitted by password only. The logotype, comprised of the narrow, structured typeface Fresno Black, takes inspiration from narrow alley ways where the bar tends to appear.The connected underline represents a flood of yellow light - the only identifiable mark pinpointing the bars location.
House of SKYE
WA based fashion label the House of SKYE is a boutique brand with a focus on producing sustainable garments at reasonable prices. The label only releases 3 non-trend driven collections a year and with a focus on producing timeless, trans-seasonal pieces.
A new, no bull subscription cosmetics company new to the beauty market. The 3SIXTY name references the company’s focus on producing sustainable products plus packaging, made from 100% recyclable materials.
Australia’s first studio specialising in indoor plant maintenance, Harper Harmony is led by sisters Harper and Harmony Westin. Their studio workshops and digital platforms focus on educating their audiences on the how to care for’s as well as sharing the positive benefits of keeping our green friends around the home.
Cult™ specialises in non-trend lead, sustainable wardrobe staples. Their audience are devotees who love the brands commitment to supplying only the best in core products. T-shirts, underwear and the odd accessory are available in a palette of black and white.
Isn’t That a “Little-Boy” Thing?
For decades, ADHD was seen as a young boy’s disorder. New evidence suggests that it like affects males and females equally, but that girls are far less likely to be diagnosed. For years the diagnosis ratio of males to females was 10:1. These days we’re looking at a slightly brighter 3:1.
Who or what inspired you to be a designer?
I’ve been very creative from a young age but my interest in graphic design truly began in 2017 whilst I was studying for my Diploma in Marketing and Communications. I was taking an advertising module and we were discussing how design played a crucial part in the world of marketing and advertising and it suddenly hit me, 8 months into my course, that THIS is what I needed to be doing. So I completed the course, did some research, discovered The Graphic Design School and enrolled immediately.
What are you up to in the design world at the moment?
Well I am super proud to say, that I recently managed to secure a real – life - job as a full time graphic designer for a beauty brand based here in Perth. I really wasn’t expecting to enter the workforce so soon but I left the course VERY determined. I spent a lot of time refining my work using the feedback from the tutors, created my own design briefs and really focused on tailoring my portfolio. I made the decision to only include the types of work that I wanted to attract in the industry. I genuinely feel like I manifested my “dream” job.
What is your favourite part of the design process?
The initial research phase after receiving and/or developing the design brief. Creating mood boards, drafting ideas and sketching. You can really let your imagination take over.
You were really into all sorts of design disciplines at TGDS, branding, campaigning and even packaging. Have you a fav?

Tell us anything you would like to about your featured works.
My personal identity system was a fun but challenging project. I wanted to poke fun at networking because I am horrible at it. I thought, how cool would it be if you’re business cards doubled up as an icebreaker? I also loved my 3SIXTY° cosmetics packaging design project. I’d love to extend it into a full campaign as the brands messaging is very relevant against today’s climate.
What did you love about studying design?
There’s a real sense of community within the industry, and even though I chose to study online I’ve always felt supported. There’s inspiration everywhere (and not just online!) I love how graphic design challenges me to push the boundaries mentally and creatively.
What’s your dream design job? Don’t hold back!
I’d love to start a collaborative studio and one day help other young women who may be struggling with trying to get their foot in the creative door. I’d like to encourage them to keep pushing towards their dreams of having a creative career – and show them that you don’t have to go down the traditional path of years and years of study to get there.
What would you say to someone about to embark on his or her own journey in design?
Do it. The opportunities that are open to you after you’ve completed your studies are endless. I would say TRY and avoid comparisons its an easy trap to fall in to, take mental breaks, (this is so important,) be open to feedback but at the same time - always stay true to you and your own unique style.
